Terms used in the calculation
- Heat loss (kW)
- The heat a building loses through its walls, roof, windows and ventilation on the coldest day. The capacity of the heating appliance is selected accordingly.
- U-value (W/m²K)
- The amount of heat passing through a building element. The lower the value, the better the insulation. It is calculated from insulation thickness and window type.
- Cooling load (kW / BTU)
- Heat entering the room from the sun, glazed surfaces, occupants and equipment. Air conditioning capacity is selected according to this total load.
- Annual running costs
- The fuel or electricity cost for one year, calculated using regional climate data and current energy prices.
