Sprinkler Systems
Automatic Protection That Tackles Fire at an Early Stage.
Sprinkler systems are safety systems that detect heat in the event of a fire, activate automatically and discharge water only onto the area at risk.

A sprinkler system is an automatic fire suppression system designed to control a fire in its initial stage.
Each sprinkler head contains a heat-sensitive glass bulb or fusible link. When the ambient temperature reaches the set value, the head opens and the system discharges water only onto the area where the fire is.
The greatest advantage of this system is that it works without waiting for human intervention. A fire can be brought under control before it grows, buying time for evacuation and reducing damage to the building.
The right sprinkler type should be selected according to the ceiling construction, room height, risk class, intended use, water pressure and architectural conditions.
Three basic types of sprinkler head
Sprinkler heads perform different tasks depending on how they are mounted. The three types below are the most common in residential, commercial, hotel, warehouse and plant room applications.
Sidewall Sprinkler
Sidewall sprinklers are used where ceiling mounting is difficult or where ceiling pipework is architecturally undesirable. The head is mounted close to the wall surface and distributes water into the room in a semicircular pattern.
They are a good choice for hotel rooms, corridors, patient rooms, office areas and small commercial premises, and offer an attractive, practical solution particularly where there are decorative ceilings.
Technical specifications
| Suitable applications | Hotel rooms, corridors, offices, small rooms, areas with decorative ceilings |
|---|---|
| Advantage | Provides fire protection without the need for ceiling mounting. |
| Points to note | Furniture, curtains, shelving or wall projections must not obstruct the water distribution. |
Concealed Sprinkler
A concealed sprinkler is hidden within the suspended ceiling, with only a decorative cover plate visible. In the event of a fire, the cover plate drops first, and the sprinkler head then opens as the temperature rises.
They are frequently used in hotels, residential developments, offices, shops, lobbies, conference rooms and luxury residential projects where appearance is important.
Technical specifications
| Suitable applications | Hotels, residential developments, prestige offices, shops, lobbies, conference rooms |
|---|---|
| Advantage | Provides a neat appearance; the sprinkler head is not visible. |
| Points to note | The cover plate must not be painted or covered, and the ceiling level must comply with the manufacturer’s dimensions. |
Ceiling Sprinkler
The ceiling sprinkler is the most widely used sprinkler head. It is mounted on the ceiling or on pipework below the ceiling and distributes water downwards in a circular pattern.
It is used in warehouses, car parks, factories, schools, shopping centres, offices and plant rooms. In industrial areas with exposed ceilings, pendent or upright sprinklers can be installed.
Technical specifications
| Suitable applications | Warehouses, car parks, factories, shopping centres, schools, offices, plant rooms |
|---|---|
| Advantage | Provides strong, balanced water distribution over large areas. |
| Points to note | Shelving, ducts, lighting and beams must not obstruct the sprinkler’s water distribution. |
What should you consider when choosing sprinklers?
1. Not every sprinkler suits every location.
Sidewall, concealed and ceiling sprinklers have different water distribution patterns. The head must therefore be selected according to the architectural layout and fire risk.
2. The temperature rating must be selected correctly.
68°C is usually used in normal living areas. However, kitchens, boiler rooms or hot plant areas may require a higher temperature rating.
3. The coverage area must be calculated in accordance with the standards.
The area protected by one sprinkler head is not fixed. The risk class, ceiling height, pressure, flow rate and standards must be taken into account.
Let’s determine the right sprinkler type for your project together.
We will plan a safe sprinkler solution based on the building’s use, ceiling construction, fire risk, water source and architectural conditions.
